Domestic Violence
Domestic Violence is a pattern of assaultive and coercive behaviors including physical, sexual, and psychological attacks as well as economic coercion that adults or adolescents use against their intimate partner. The Commission seeks to alleviate the impact of domestic abuse on Arkansans be becoming involved in improving public policy, distribution of state funds to shelter programs, providing training on domestic violence issues and conducting other community projects.
More specifically, the Commission is in the process of conducting a needs assessment and strategic plan to better understand violence against women issues. This process is being accomplished by conducting focus groups, sending surveys and will ultimately result in a strategic plan for Arkansas on these issues.
